If you’ve been hearing the term insulin resistance tossed around but still feel fuzzy on what it actually means—pull up a chair. This first part of our series is all about breaking it down in plain English so you know exactly what’s going on in your body and why it matters for your health.
So, what is insulin?
Insulin is a hormone made by your pancreas. Its main job is to act like a key that unlocks your cells so glucose (a.k.a. sugar from the food you eat) can get inside and be used as energy.
When everything is working the way it should, insulin keeps your blood sugar stable and your energy steady.
